I’ve installed openSUSE 11.1 on a couple of systems, but my work-issued laptop is still running 11.0. I wanted to wait until the release fun quieted down before I made the switch on my main work machine, but today’s the day — I’m backing up my data right now, and getting ready to do a fresh install of openSUSE 11.1 x86_64 on my beloved ThinkPad.

(Done, and everything works beautifully…)

I too too the plunge and installed a fresh copy of the 64 Bit openSUSE 11.1 and so far so good …… or not
I have tried to get VMware server installed, tried version 1.0.8 but it won’t compile correctly. I did get the gcc version error and typed yes to continue, shortly afterwards the VMware install stops. I never had this issue with openSUSE 11. Would be interesting to hear if anyone has had similar issues or has any suggestions.
I don’t want to try VMware Server 2, looks like bloatware.

Well: new kernel, new gcc…
Perhaps it’s time for another vmware-any-any-update?

Let’s see if VmWare releases a fix.
