Put your party hat on for 11.0 – Local release parties
Monday, May 26th, 2008 by ZonkerWe’re getting down to the wire now — with only 24 days to go (and counting…), it’s time to start planning release parties.
If your LUG or local openSUSE group is planning a release party, let us know! And if you’re not, why not? Throw an installfest, or just get all the openSUSE and Linux users you know together to talk about the latest release, have some refreshments, and be social. (Take plenty of pictures, too — we want to see you!)
Note that you don’t have to throw your release party the same day as the release — so if you’re working for a living, maybe June 19 isn’t the best day to go out — but the following Saturday is good too.
By the way, if you’re an openSUSE user in the Tampa area in Florida, drop me a line. We should definitely organize a shindig to celebrate the release of 11.0. It’s just a question of where and when.

I use openSUSE since version SuSE Linux 6.3
I frequently bring my private laptop running openSUSE 10.3 to my workplace, so some of my collegues saw what a modern Linux distribution can do and are willing to move from Windows XP to openSUSE 11.0.
Therefore, I am throwing a private installfest at my house on the 21th of june. 5 New collegues will join me and bring their machines to install openSUSE 11.0. To support me, another Linux-experienced friend of mine will join me to help and make the newbies experience as good as possible.
Greets,
Andreas
Nothing in Czech republic :’-( Exactly I don’t know about any release party and Florida is far, far away for a short trip. :-/ But I still hope, there will be a party somewhere in Europe, close to east side of Czech republic.
Is there something planned in Montréal (Canada)?
Thanks
This is a list of current parties:

Please add your parties and either the time and location, or link to another website if it exists
Who added the Penguins?
Nothing near me (I live near San Francisco), so maybe I’ll just have to make one!
Nothing in Lithuania either.
Only Ubuntu and Mandriva parties. I do really hope to see such openSUSE party some day here.
A tip for those of you wanting to start your own: you may want to contact a local Linux User Group in your area and just ask if there are any openSUSE users interested in joining you for a party. There may be some that aren’t up to speed with what’s going on in the project.
